Jess Wade completed in 2012 a Master of Science (MSc) degree in physics at Imperial College of London. From 2020, Wade is a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Materials of the Imperial College of London, focusing on developing and characterizing new materials for optoelectronic devices, with particular attention on chiral organic semiconductors. She previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Fuchter and Campbell groups at Imperial College London, where she optimized these chiral systems such that can absorb/emit circularly polarized (CP) light for CP OLEDs and OPDs. For her Ph.D., Jess concentrated on organic photovoltaics and the development of advanced characterization techniques to better understand molecular packing under the supervision of Dr. Ji-Seon Kim. As of November 2022, according to the Web of Science, she has published 59 items and cited 1124 times.
Jess Wade has also contributed to public engagement to increase gender equality and to challenge gender stereotypes in STEM subjects, and since the start of 2018, she has committed to writing Wikipedia biographies of women and people of color scientists every single day.
